Cedar Rapids Real Estate Listings and Information

Cedar Rapids

The city of five seasons is elegantly seated around the Cedar River. As the second largest city in Iowa, Cedar Rapids offers a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational attractions.

Home of Coe College and Mount Mercy University, Cedar Rapids presents a heavy emphasis on education. With top-ranked high schools, the Cedar Rapids public school system participates in programs such as Advanced Placement and partners with Kirkwood Community College (located just south of the city) as well as the University of Iowa (located in Iowa City) to promote continuing education.

Established in 1838, Cedar Rapids has attracted a great deal of cultural diversity through the years. The Czech Village, centered close to the site of the historic Sinclair meat packing plant, hosts an assortment of Czech cultural festivities through the year including a Kolach festival, the NewBo village market, and a Czech Independence celebration. The African American Museum and library introduce a new flavor of culture through traditional musical performances and presentations at events throughout the city. Cedar Rapids also hosts the North American Mother Mosque, which acts as an Islamic cultural center by opening a variety of yearly events to the public.

Historic Downtown Cedar Rapids, heavily affected by the flood of 2008, has been resurrected as an entertainment and dining center for eastern Iowa. Accommodating the Paramount Theatre, Theatre Cedar Rapids and the US Cellular Center, Downtown Cedar Rapids attracts an array of traveling entertainment as well as hosting various local entertainment groups. Home of restaurants such as Black Sheep Social Club as well as the White Star Ale House, the downtown district centralizes fine dining in the area.

Cedar Rapids provides numerous recreational options including 74 formally named parks, 10 splash pads, 2 disc golf courses, and an inter-city trail system that tours Center Point, Cedar Rapids, Solon, and North Liberty.
