Home of the Week | Front Porch Livin'

This neat house has a swoon-worthy front porch to make into your own personal oasis. Have I mentioned how much I love a good front porch?

A few plants and some wicker furniture (and maybe a swing?) are just a few ways this space could be transformed into a part of the house you'll never want to leave. Would you keep the floor color or paint it.. or tile it? I've also noticed a new trend for porches is to paint the ceiling a bright color! Are you more of a traditionalist or do you like to branch out a little bit? I tend to lean traditional but something about a porch makes me think of summer, and summer makes me think of color, so long story short I think I would try to branch out and go with a bright blue ceiling (see below):

Once inside you'll step into this living room. The owners did a great job of accenting this unique home! I am a little biased towards the new home trend of painting the brick on the fireplace white. It seems like it freshens the space up so well! Would you take the time to paint all the trim or are you on team "Save the Wood Trim" like my husband and family? (Sorry guys, I love a good white trim, what can I say!?!?) So my obvious choice would be to paint it all white but leave the great flooring!

Check out this room! The table, the chairs the dark accent wall color.. wow! This home was given a wonderful makeover! As I go through it, I'm even liking the wood trim a little more. They did a great job highlighting all the unique features of this house.

The kitchen was given a great makeover too! Beadboard was added to the ceiling, new cabinets and hardware were installed along with a farmhouse sink, new lighting... and many other additions! I love that you can see into the other room while still maintaining an enclosed space.

A quick look at the bathroom shows more "modern farmhouse" updates with the addtion of painted beadboard. The green beadboard does a great job of accenting the color of the wood flooring.

Lastly, a photo of the backyard (looking towards the house- also the two-stall garage on the left side of the image belongs to the home) shows a lot of additional space! I might put up a fence for some additional privacy and then add in some shrubs and plants to create a softer environment.

I always love when a home is move-in ready while still allowing for a few areas to create your own updates. This house is the perfect example of that. Older homes always have the best character and this was no exception.
