Urbana Real Estate Listings and Information

Approximately midway between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, at the intersection of Interstate 380 and Highway 150 you can find the town of Urbana, Iowa. A community of nearly 1,500 people, Urbana offers easy access to three separate airports and a rail system in addition to its prime location on major roadways.

The first pioneers settled in this area in the mid 1800’s and it was originally called Hoosier Point. Eventually Hoosier Point and very nearby towns of Marysville and Manatheka jointed together for ease of Postal Service and named the area Urbana, eventually dropping one of the N’s.

Urbana has a combined school system with the nearby community of Cedar Point to form Center Point-Urbana Community School District. For those interested in attending college, Cedar Rapid’s Coe College, Mt Mercy University and Kirkwood Community College are a mere 25 miles to the south.

Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area is one of three parks in a beautiful outdoor escape available in Urbana. It has a 410 acre lake including a sandy swimming area with lifeguards on duty. The park is open year round and offers hiking trails and camping in addition to the boating and swimming.
